An interesting explore on a beautiful spring day. Really enjoyed it here.
Currently being renovated into homes. The hospital is going to be a 3 bedroomed home with roof terrace with entry through the former water tower.
The two buildings are a decontamination hospital which was built incase of a gas or chemical attack and a standby- set house which housed a generator incase of a power cut. The military buildings were built during the 2nd world war ar RAF Harlaxton.
It will be interesting to see how the buildings will look once the building work is finished.

Know it well and been many a time. Knew that they are in the process of restoring it. Was really surprised when I found out and then I saw the architect's plans on-line (see HERE). They've certainly cleared the site since I went last back in 2020. Not seen the water tower and stanton shelters here. If you venture up the road to the remains of RAF Saltby there's loads of shelters and a water tower too.

What is that puzzling oval hole is the floor with like places for feet for I wonder?
A decontamination shower maybe.

Yes - it looks very much like a shower stall. If it was a decontamination one, where did the 'contaminated' water run to? Straight to the ordinary sewerage system? It reminds me of the combined showers/lavatories on the 1970s River Congo passenger barges. There was the shower head with lukewarm ambient temperature water, and the common hole in the floor which led straight to the river.
Don't drop your soap! Or anything else.

That is just a normal toilet - you squat over it and pull down your trousers... You don't see that kind much these days but was very common in some countries. (Never seen one in Scandinavia and I guess from the lack of responses that they are unusual in UK as well.)

I've seen Karl Pilkington having to use one in China. It was a public toilet. I don't think he used it, just moaned and refused 😆

Furthermore, in the 1960s, the coaches on East African Railways had two lavatories - one marked European - with the usual sit-on WC we know - and the other marked Asian - with the hole in the floor and two places to put the feet. Similarly with Congo riverboat combined showers/loos, the detritus went straight down and out onto the track.
