Odd pillbox in Bradford on Avon

Found this oddity the other day.Its on the canal bank in a shallow cutting covering a bend in the canal,it's about 7foot across the face and appears to be square with only one embrasure with no field of fire covering the actual bend.The back of the box is embedded in the embankment and is completely inaccessible due to dense undergrowth

Dont know the lat/long or ng grid reference but it's centered here.

Interior shot taken through embrasure back left seems to show entrance coming down, I assume, steps from embankment.Interior appears to have been fired at some point there is no visible blast wall.



Finally one for all you spider fans out there,I love the way the flash has caught his beady little eyes.

Description: 1996/09/01 Type 26 pillbox, approx. 10ft square, with embrasures approx. 18ins x 7ins. The entrance, on the side away from the canal, is in the bank of the canal, has concrete sides to retain the bank and steps down into the pillbox. The entrance is partly filled by earth and debris making it impossible to gain entrance. Brick shuttering; concrete roof. The pillbox now is almost entirely overgrown with bushes, except the side on the edge of the canal towpath. 2000/08/24 Type 26 pillbox, S of Underwoods Bridge, with field of fire SW across canal towards Rowden Lane. 2 x embrasures seen. Brick-shuttered exterior. Overgrown. [with plan drawn on form].
