I know this site has been done a few times now, but word in the village is that it’s finally being knocked down (this has been said so many times I don’t believe it until it happens)

What a pity there is nothing left to show what went on there. In the 1950s I stayed with a farmer whose milk went to the Hemyock creamery - also in Devon and long gone. And, waiting for the train to take me home from school at Totnes, I was able to see Daw's creamery in operation adjacent to the station. Two other Devon 'milk factories' filed with the mechanical marvels of the day - grabs that turned the full milk churns over to tip the milk into great baths, heavy conveyors that took the empty churns to be steam sterilised before re-use, the plant that sterilised the bottles coming back from the dairies for refilling, and the bottle filling equipment itself. All like a giant clanking Meccano set working in unison.
