It became a pub in the early 1900s and remained so until a couple of years ago when it closed. In 2018 planning permission was won to knock down part of the picturesque property, turn it into a family home, and develop the 2.15 acre site to also accommodate five four-bedroom houses, but to this day, nothing has happened yet. We spoke to a couple of local residents upon arriving and they said that some relation to the owner/landlord continued to live in the property for a while after the pub closed, with or without the knowledge of the owner, we don't know. Certainly, the 4 solar lights cable-tied to the outside stairway leading to a brand new upstairs door, suggests someone was living there.
