Santa Isabel battery - Gran Canaria 2024

Hi All
Last but one post so you don`t have too put up with my holiday ramblings much longer.
This is the Santa Isabel coastal battery and that`s about all I could find out about this place, I think it might be split in
too two different parts, the surface fort and its magazines and the later Battery range finding bunker (More of the next)

Again visited with the help and guidance of Marc B (Mate if you read this there is a second range finding bunker further
along the ridge line)

I`m interested in the date the place was built, it looks like some of our 1800`s forts but the gun pits further along the ridge line look WW2-ish.

Not sure what period the fort is but if it's early 1800s then I imagine it was built by the Spanish when Napoleon was busy staging World War Zero perhaps? The Canaries are in a good strategic location with respect to the Trade Winds are they not? So that would even make them a great place to harbour ships assigned to raiding British commerce destined to or from (dunno which way the Trade Winds blow at that locale!) to the Caribbean?

Hi All, these islands have always had a huge strategic importance, Christopher Columbus (known as 'Cristobal Colón' in spanish) supplied his ships here on way to discover the americas, the Franco Hitler alliance had a Uboat supply point here and more.
Something really interesting in the bunkers is there are detailed schematics drawn on the walls, of the guns precision aiming computer system, that was back then state of the art technology, though it's suffered some graffiti over it from people who have no idea what any of it means judging by their comments.
Easy to find place, it's on Google maps as a historic place.

Many thanks for the 3 days of mooching about on the island, I was looking at GE and there is another battery plotting/range finder bunker further along the ridge line, might be worth a visit mate.

Is there a third bunker along the ridge? If so I'll check it out some time.

My Youtube feed for some reason the last few days seems to have yet more bunkers appearing that I'd either forgot or never heard of.
I'd earlier put in keywords azuaje balneario and put in búnkeres militares gran canaria and goes crazy
