I’ve been reading / viewing this site for ages and I’ve learnt so much and I’ve placed this question here because I respect the opinion of members who post.
I was going to get views from those members who have home cinema systems and was looking for recommendations for projectors which have 1080p / 4k (optional) but which crucially have Ethernet capability. My system runs entirely off cables as it’s located waaaaayyy down my garden (200ft plus) away from the house so the device needs to be RJ45 cable capability.
Does anyone else have a similar setup and if so what projector do you use ?
All thoughts / advice welcome. Google searches seem to come up with very broad / unnecessary results with big company sponsored review setpieces I’m more interested in simple anecdotal setup info.
Any and all responses appreciated.

I'm not a projector specialist, but have to get involved with IT cabling at work and regularly discuss with folks who know much more than I do.

Your problem might be cabling rather than finding a projector with an ethernet port - IIRC there's a theoretical limit to RJ45 channels which is about 300ft - but in practice depending on gauge of cable and type of switch it's less, maybe 200 or 250ft? Best to speak to an AV or IT networking geek to figure out the type of ether cable required (probably the most expensive type...) and whether it will work in practice.

Would do no harm to make an enquiry to a professional AV firm, they'll quickly tell you whether it's feasible because they'll be keen to sell you the kit required...

Are you looking to carry the AV over RJ45 or just have the projector networked to turn it on remotely/ trigger a screen?
You can send AV over RJ45 via a converter box at both ends to convert HDMI to RJ45 then back again for the projector.
Something like 'hdmi to ethernet adapter' on Amazon will work but, as Wolfism has mentioned will have a maximum working length.

I was myself thinking of moving my AV room into the garden and may eventually do this but will run ethernet for internet ability and use an Amazon firestick or Roku to make the projector 'smart' as this is a cheaper upgrade in the future rather than a HDMI feed.

I've got a nice boxed Epson EB-X27 projector for sale if interested. Only 47 hours use and with a spare bulb. Collect from Liverpool.

I used to have a firestick plugged directly into it for the occasional movie night.

It has Ethernet on it, but that's only to control the projector - power it on and off remotely, access the settings and so on.

Can recommend the projector Gibbo has mentioned above. They are very good and bright although I think only 720p resolution normally. Have installed 100's of these.

It sounds to me like you need a cheap second hand pc /media centre with HDMI or vga output to sit between your UTP/RJ45 and your projector, otherwise you are looking for a projector with an intelligent front end so it know which packets it's supposed to use from the ethernet data stream and what it's supposed to do with them. That way you could still play DVDs or other media locally too. I've been using an Epson EH-TW6000 for several years and been very happy with it, does full HD and 3D and the lamp has a very long life.

If you've got power at the mancave. the way I'd do it is:

In house:
Media centre in house
TP Link AV600 Powerline adapters (or better)

At the mancave:
Projector with 4k Firestick Max plugged directly into the projector running PLEX or Similar
Firestick getting its wireless signal from the powerline plugged into the socket

Do you really need a projector? A good 4K telly isn't dear these days, has loads of apps built in and will probably have a network socket as well as wireless.

Well! Thank you for the responses. I really really appreciate the time that you’ve all out into this. This is food for thought.
My building has to be at the bottom of the garden due to the nature of the property and I get very good speed from my RJ45 cabling which runs to about 120m in total (up and over the house and down an armoured cable into the cave.
I’ll consider those recommendations very carefully and might be up for a bigger tv given the advice from the last message.
So thank you again and I do thank each and every one of you.
Maxy H.
