St. Peters Seminary was a Roman Catholic Seminary, designed by Gillespie, Kidd & Coia it was built in 1966 and could accomodate 100 priests, but with dwindling numbers of priests in never accomodated anywhere near its capacity. The building was brutalist concrete 60s architeture but because of its unique design it was plagued with maintence issues and water ingress trouble, it finally closed in 1980 as a seminary and was take over as a drug rehab centre until the late 80s. In 1995 it suffered a major fire and since then has been vandalized, it is however on the World Monuments Fund's '100 Most Endangered Sites' list and was named as Scotland's greatest post-WWII building.

anyhow enough history, heres some pics!!! this was the most fun ive ever had in a building thats sooooooooooooo fucked!!! :D so much so i got a little carried away with the pics!!

Wow, that is one helluva quirky, ugly building! Love it. What on earth are those funnel-type things? Really like the bosky setting too. Nice find. :)

Looks even more wrecked than when we last ventured in, but you got some good photos. The funnel-shaped parts are side-chapels, either side of the main altar. Looks like somebody's propped an old TV on top of the altar ... tut.

Top photos from one of the most impressive derelict buildings in the country! I wish it was closer to here, but I guess if it was it would be more trashed than it is.
