Steetley Magnasite & Benshaws Bending, April 08

Hi People,

Visited Steetley again on Saturday with the aim of climbing the chimney - unfortunately the climb didnt happen (yet..)

Here's some of the piccies..

Highlight of the day was watching these hardcore 4x4'rs getting stuck in the sand at the end of the pier , it took them about 5 min of shunting, wheel spinning and digging to get themselves out, only to..

..reverse down the pier..

..and further..

I don't think I'd trust some of the planks to support the weight of a vehicle..

not wanting to get beaten up with a fishing rod or thrown off the pier, after photographing the escapades of two guys in the 4x4 - I moved further down the site to the warehouse units..

pretty much knackered..

and burnt out..

these propane bottles had virtually concreted themselves in..

shit loads of these insulators..

from the graveyard..

Was down this way last sunday,with a small group on the newcastle big meeeeeet.

One or two things had changed since i was last down there 3 weeks ago, the main one is the last remainding gangty going across to the pool centre has now collapped

Theres a fair fishermen drive their cars along that pier but from walking along it I reckon they're mad!

Do you mean the gantry on the biggest tanks collapsed? This one...

Suprised at that but wouldn't be shocked if the scrap men had been at it mind you as last time we had a wander round there a week or so ago they had a burner taking the steel rods out of the remaining buildings.

I love this place, no matter what sites I visit this will always be my favourite and added to the fact its 2 minutes walk from my house and I can go whenever I want I'm sorted really!

Dont look like hardcore offroaders to me, that Shogun Sport looks too new and shiny and getting stuck is part of the fun
