I have visited these old workshops a few times in the past. Well hidden away you would think they are just an old set of sheds. But inside is some lovely vintage pieces. The best bit is the table saw, this was a traditional belt driven one. The rod that drives it goes into another room and looks like it use to drive some other pieces once. The table saw is situated in an old Nissen hut, these were often bought up after the war and put to other uses, especially by farmers. Some old news papers in there date back to the eighties, I found some notes dating back to the twenties on my first visit but seem to have gone now.

A real time capsule. The George Cohen advert for Cummins generators reminds me that the Cohen 600 Group was a real force in demolition, scrap metal and construction in those days; way before the term "recycling" was invented. My wife worked for Cohen's as a secretary at one time. And the Permutit water softener had me thinking of the one my parents had in their Eastbourne seafront hotel, in the 1960s and 1970s. I hope the 1920s newpapers went to a good home.
