It gives me no pleasure to post this miserable hole of a place. Have seen it a few times and never knew what it was - kinda assumed it was council housing.
However some quick research (google is one's friend) reveals that it was a care home for young adults with Physical Disabilities.
A real horrible sh*t hole of a place that really brought my mood down - I really found this a miserable pit to mooch around.
Anyway some info from the Oldham Chron :
A SEMI-DERELICT former care home which has been attacked by arsonists and used by squatters is on a hit list for council action.
Lake View opened in 1970 as a local authority home for young adults with physical disabilities, but closed in 1993 and was sold at auction three years later.
It stands on the corner of Kings Road and Park Road, facing Oldham’s award-winning Alexandra Park, and is next to the Park View social services’ day nursery.
The closure of Lake View was controversial as, against their wishes, residents were moved to Royle Close and Boston House in Hathershaw.
The house has since decayed and has been boarded up several times. Fencing has been pulled down and French windows are smashed and wide open.
It has changed hands several times and was last owned by a woman in Stockport, who did not return calls from the Chronicle.
Residents were moved against their wishes !!!! Difficult to believe this.

this is a typical cell ..... oh sorry I mean room - they all had sliding doors which just made it seem more like a prison ,
of course I understand that it would be convenient with anyone in a wheelchair etc, but I couldn't help it dragging me down and making me think the place looked and felt like a prison.
These rooms are rather small and pokey - no larger than my bedroom and definitely smaller than my lounge (I live in a HA 1 bed flat).
Oh look the lower level had a lounge for residents - there wasn't one on the upper so I assume it was to cater for the whole population of the place
this is the lounge:
again small and pokey - not much larger than my lounge.
I feel this place should be left exactly as is and should be used as a shining beacon of how NOT to design a place where we expect people to live
and how not to treat people with disabilities. This place is horrid.
We oft shoot the places we explore because we like the architecture, we have a love for the building, we see beauty even in decay.
On this occasion this is a report I consider more aligned to social commentary - I hope this doesn't make me sound all precious, and
up my own backside - I don't mean to be but this place really effected me - others
may or may not agree - but I hated this place - the bright colours in my shot give it a lift it does not deserve.
