St Cadocs Chapel

I know many have done the hospital (not reported it myself) but tucked away in the corner & seemingly never reported is this rather nice chapel / church.
TBH I know its rarely open as Iv been here several times myself & only cracked it on our last visit, Despite typically being used for storing hospital junk & having a horrible stud wall right through the middle of it, it still retains some charm.

I can literally find nothing about this place, I believe its just known as St Cadocs Chapel & assume it was built at around the same time as the hospital 1906, but thats it so anyone with any further info would be gratefully received..

Very nice, it reminds me of the old Fair Mile chapel which is a similar design. Shame they trashed it like that. Fair Mile Chapel

I'm looking at this report while an inpatient at Royal Bournemouth Hospital ! I'm sure the hospital chapel/prayer room is nowhere as elegant as St Cadoc's. Apart from the stud wall.

With so-called refugees filling hotels at our expense - and criminals not going to jail for a lack of cells - here's an ideal place for some of them. They could be employed in repairing the damage.

I love the 'flat rat'.

All very good, but as i have reminded people before, this is a WORKING NHS hospital, not a theme park.

Would be grateful if the site could be treated accordingly...

Gosh, those pics are like looking into a fractal - infinitely detailed, what an interesting building... and well up to your normal standard.

Ha! sorry!! You know what i mean!! Work was started in 1903 and completed in 1906. Church and Hospital both built at same time..

Here it is in the process of being built in 1904..

Typical wooden scaffolding of the era. No steel or ali poles from SGB ! - like wot I used to deliver. Or zip-up towers.

Ah they still use bamboo scaffold in the far east. Until I got a photo of the boiler house chimney at Fair Mile clad in wooden scaffold I never knew about the stuff. ANyway here is a link to by Fair Mile blog on the Boiler house, the first photo is the chimney with wooden scaffold

Rough sawn lengths of timber are common in Greece, with rough planks laid horizontally as fornwork, to support rebar and the wheelbarrow poured concrete to make second storey and above floors for domestic dwellings - with another rebar-ed pouring to make the roof.
