Johno23 had mentioned to me an idea about doing a night explore of Derby Kingsway Asylum, and about how spooky and atmospheric it would be. I then asked another urbexing friend to join me, Johno23, Drama Queen and one other on what was to be a weird night. A very good explore, but weird for one reason inparticular...

We heard music coming from the main hall (we were in another bit of the building), it was intermittant and really odd and Johno23 thought it must have been the May Ball for the University of Insane   I STILL can't work out where it was coming from.

Anyways, on with the photos...

This sign was in the main hall - there was no wet floor!

We also got into the projector room behind the hall with the stage - very cramped but such a great thing to see - the photo I got in there is in the portraits/self portraits thread.

Johno23 said he'd add some of his photos, so keep an eye out for those.

Those aren't all the photos I took on this trip, the rest are here - http://http://www.flickr.com/photos/jesstified/sets/72157625069622038/with/5718768838/.

Thanks for looking :)

Did you spend the night there? now that would be good fun:shocked:
We didn't spend the night there no, but we spent a good 5 or so hours there - didn't come out until well after midnight. Sleeping there would be pretty creepy, but you might get an unwelcomed wake-up call from the demolition men ;)

A good night explore with a great bunch of people.Although this has been featured on DP several times in some very good threads,we thought that a night explore would put a different perspective on it.The place certainly takes on a different character at night.

Our team were all very experienced explorers and we dont do the ghostwalk haunted kind of stuff ,but THAT old time intermittent music certainly made us stop and think.Five of us could not come up with a logical explanation, there is nothing within the area like a music venue, pub etc,so make of it what you will, but it certainly happened and was seemingly coming from the main hall.

Jimba has put some great photos up and I will also add a few,but they are nowhere near as good as I was fiddling about in the dark with my new camera on its first job:mrgreen:

As the light faded, the place started to take on a different atmosphere.

Through the old projection room window, the moon watched over us:).

It was a very enjoyable explore and great company, too :) it was good to get in there at night before it's completely gone.

Youve got some great photos, I especially like the last one with the moon shining through the glass - very atmospheric
