Default Stone House Hospital - December 2011

So, this will be the first of three reports I will be posting over the coming few days and was visited on a bright and lovely day in December.

The history has been covered many times, but for those who don't know and want to find out please follow this wiki link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_House_Hospital.

The hospital is a beautiful and dramatic place, currently being developed to include luxury flats and what looks like a whole host of new build and decidedly ugly residential properties.

The day itself was marvellous, the discovery of the 2 great halls a pleasure, marauding around the endless corridors an excitement and shamefully, my wilful scaring of fellow explorers (I thought they were security and figured if they were gonna catch me, I would scare the shit out of them in the process:)) pretty amusing! As I work in mental health and this being my first asylum, I found the notes left by tenants and the obvious translations for staff scrawled on paper and fixed to the wall very, very interesting and a marked change to how things work today!

Anyhow, on with the photographs. Didn't get as many exterior shots as I would have liked due to the site being busy with security and builders, I intend to go back very soon for these..........................

No editing on this shot! Although, I admit, it does look like it has been HDRed!!!!!!!!

    Thanks for looking!

Absolutely stunning stuff matey! We tried this place during the week a short while ago but gave it up as a bad job because it was heaving with workmen going to and fro.

    One day soon I hope!

    Great job... :)

Thats true. The last shot of the tower, at the bottom of the image is the security hut! Became a little brazen towards the end of the day :):):)

Stunning photos, pumice. The blue and gold decor on the ceiling is an absolute delight. Good stuff. :)

Terrific pictures! I especially like that close up of the tower; the tower is so beautiful and your pic does it justice!

It's not so bad getting caught when you're almost finished anyway :)

Cool report though - great photos.
