So, this will be the first of three reports I will be posting over the coming few days and was visited on a bright and lovely day in December.
The history has been covered many times, but for those who don't know and want to find out please follow this wiki link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_House_Hospital.
The hospital is a beautiful and dramatic place, currently being developed to include luxury flats and what looks like a whole host of new build and decidedly ugly residential properties.
The day itself was marvellous, the discovery of the 2 great halls a pleasure, marauding around the endless corridors an excitement and shamefully, my wilful scaring of fellow explorers (I thought they were security and figured if they were gonna catch me, I would scare the shit out of them in the process) pretty amusing! As I work in mental health and this being my first asylum, I found the notes left by tenants and the obvious translations for staff scrawled on paper and fixed to the wall very, very interesting and a marked change to how things work today!
Anyhow, on with the photographs. Didn't get as many exterior shots as I would have liked due to the site being busy with security and builders, I intend to go back very soon for these..........................
No editing on this shot! Although, I admit, it does look like it has been HDRed!!!!!!!!
Thanks for looking!
