It's interesting to see what's still remaining, but still very sad to see the rest gone now. :(
How bizarre, seeing all those shoes!:lol:
Nice pics, Engineer. :)

Beans Foundry.

Thanks for the comments. If you're fashion conscious this old place is full of shoes.

I was intrigued as to why two buildings remained, only thing I came up with is the substation is still part live and in direct line of sight of a security post.
The pumphouse was probably a no-go area for the demolition contractors due to the gas main, plus it has the benefit of CCTV coverage. (Normally the pump impellors and gland sleeves would be long gone).

awwww, sad to see :(

suspect the reaon the pump house and substation are still there is because thats where the utilities come in, and they'd need to call in the relevant companies for each to remove them before the buildings can be knocked down.

I wonder which derelict site the crazy Nigerian security guard who was there is at now? :)

Are you serious? I was sure they wouldn't bother having a guard for those bits left...

If it's the same chap, it's good he was preoccupied. He gets quite animated when he spots intruders

I think he is the guard for the factory units, he does not sound like the same guy. I moored at the Black Country Museum later and cycled back to Beans main gate.
He was very helpful and gave me a lot of details about the old buildings now used as units.

have you any idea what the standby pump engine is? it looks like a 4 cylinder margruis duetz engine of may even be a ph petters engine but i didnt think they made them that big.

Magirus Deutz, I think. Must be fairly old as it has a CAV CA45 starter motor and UK dynamo (same as Lister HA etc).
A quick check seems to indicate they made them to six cylinders. nice engines.
