Default W.G.Knitwear Factory, Leicester Jan 2013

Visited here after another factory in leicester with a few of the Leicester lot.

Not sure of the history on the place, but it looks like the building had been split into different units and over the years each one had gradually closed. Its bigger than my pics show- cant seem to find the rest of the ones i took

    Full of pidgeon poo

    Tickle me.......

Apart from the poo its a nice old place! This was once T. Forsell's worsted spinning factory, the buildings have been here since at least the 1880's. Eventually the company moved to larger premises, and the buildings were taken over by small hosiery businesses.

    quite liking that.
Zero reports, zero participation and then a PM asking for info tends to offend - I delete such PM's so don't waste your time.

lovely warm light in that first shot...a proper lookin factory with a real brick chimney, shame we haven't got any industry left that requires buildings like that;)

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
