    Post Ryhope Pumping Station

Whilst up at Cherry Knowle Hospital the other weekend, I noticed a rather tall chimney on the skyline nearby. On closer inspection, it turned out to be a rather nice Pumping Station, now disused, and it looks like they are doing the place up. There are two ornamental lakes either side of the building, perhaps "balancing ponds"? Hoping it'll be open to the Public once the refurbishment works are complete! :) Had a good look around the outside.

Enjoyed seeing those, Lb. A nice bit of history, too.
It never fails to amaze me the variations of, and attention to detail on Victorian buildings.

    Cheers for that

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
