Another one from my recent trip to Surrey was this place, which I loved!
Cant believe how completely accessible this place is despite a lot of inherent dangers & enough asbestos to wipe out a small island. There were several vehicles parked in the entrance but I saw no one in 2 or 3 hr visit, I explored just about every inch with the only limitations being my aching frame.
Fullers earth was known for its absorbent properties which was mainly used as cat litter.
In 1954 the works, now employing 780 men, were bought by chemical company Laporte Industries.
Interestingly in the 70's the quarried land at Redhill was used for several alien landscapes in the Doctor Who series (sorry I didnt get any pics of that)
The quarry is now being used as landfill & the complex has stood empty since 2004.
