Crashmatt, The Rev and Kaputnik were kind enough to give me a tour around Bridon Wire Works in Ambergate a few days ago. As this is 2 months down the line from the original explore, I'm guessing this needs a new thread..?

I'm just figuring out ways to make urbex photos look grimy and more derelict-y so excuse the experimental style  This was just a quick 5 min job in Lightroom.

One of the warehousey buildings:

A burnt-out residential building overlooking the works:

Upstairs in the power building:

Another long building:

The lab! I wish we'd arrived 4 hours earlier I could've got a better look at this amazing place:

Really like your pics, Orange. Some twiddled photos make a place look like a psycho's lair, but yours are great...nice blue cast. Always good to see Bridon too. :)

Excellent pics OA, Glad you got to see the labs, me and TnM must have spent at least 2 or 3 hours just in the labs, reading the paperwork in there. So much paperwork in those filing cabinets just left, and the glass tubes etc. awesome lol. loved it. We just ran out of time to go anywhere else on site, cos we spent so much time in there.

Love the power room, and the huge room with the ferns growing in.

Did you see that row of cottages just before you got to the wireworks? Loads of books in one of the upstairs bedroom, anatomy, biology, books about plants etc. brilliant.

Good pics,

:) Sal

Yes but we walked past them - they're accessable then? Would be great to get in there, they looked really good and if you're saying that theres still stuff left in them...

Think there's 4 (or 5 lol) cottages in a terrace just before you get to the wireworks themselves. On the right hand side. Think it was the first cottage we went in. Tiny little kitchen, (quaint tho but with huge spiders :( ), room small rooms downstairs, then up a narrow staircase, and two bedrooms upstairs and a tiny bathroom. The books are on a bookcase in the first bedroom (you have to go through that bedroom to get to the second one) right hand side as you go in the door. Loads of books, . And a lamp attatched to a magazine rack in the second bedroom. There's a pic of it when me and TnM went a few months ago.

Hope that helps?

:) Sal

Pretty sure the cottages mentioned are boarded up securely now, with Danger notices put up. they were a few weeks back on a previous look around.

I've been a couple of times and got quite a few pics, but there was always one building that was in the middle so to speak that I never found a way into. I'm guessing that's where the labs are.

Good pics inthe lab especially with the light.

I'm off work this week, looks like I've just found something to do tomorrow

I popped along today, what lovely weather

Most of the entry points were sealed tighter than a nun's chuff, the boards are a good inch thick! Was some entry points along the way to some area's though. They were more trashed than when I went a few months ago :(

I did find an entry point into the building I had failed to get into before, unfortunately I need to lose some weight before I will fit

You weren't looking hard enough :)
Drop me a pm if you want any info.

I visited last august and they were prety well boarded up then . The danger high voltage signs were a bit of a put off (not).

I had a quick look inside but I didn't have torch with me and it was very dark and damp inside so i just fired off the flash.

I didn't go upstairs as the steps seemed very damp indeed.

It looked as though someone was looking for valuables in the cupboards. everything in the living room had been turned over.

They're on all buildings - I suspect someone had a load of them that needed using up as for some of these buildings there is blatantly no electrical hazards:)

Rob, they're the cottages we went in. Did you go upstairs in the bedrooms? that's where all the books were, in the first bedroom just as you've gone into the room, there's a bookcase on the right hand side. Loads of stuff still there.

Christ, stop talking about access in public!

It's the only hard and fast rule on this site.

No I was on my own and didn't have a torch it was pitch black inside the cottage and the stairs seemed damp possibly rotten so I dared not risk it.

Did you get any pictures from upstairs?

Rob...

The first, second and last photo are really good.

Would love to get in there with you.

[the one of the phone would look even better if you made the blacks darker... or maybe its my laptop monitor]
