Barrow Hill Brick Kilns are located next to the M69 between Hinckley and Leicester. The tops of the concrete structures are visible through the trees from the motorway. Additionally the area is popular with young trailbikers. I have seen trailbikes being driven around the remains, and also around the nearby Barrow Hill quarry. The material quarried was the local Mercia Mudstone, formerly known as the Keuper Marl. This material is a red clay / mudstone found widely across the Midlands, and frequently used for brick making.
I don't know much of the history of this place, however the date 1901 is marked within one of the structures. The site is currently up for sale, with the adjoining fishing lake situated in part of the old quarry.
A brief search of online old maps indicates that the site may have been active until the 1950's. A tramway formerly ran between the site and the mainline railway to the south.
