Default Fort Houmet Herbé (Channel Islands) -- August 2018

Fort Houmet Herbé was built in 1854. It mounted 10 guns of various sizes, and was manned by 61 soldiers. This is one of three Victorian forts on the island that were not modified for use by the Germans.
It's name roughly translates to "Grassy Islet"

Very well done as with your post of the barracks. How many gun enplacements were there? You photographed three or did you take three photos of the same emplacement?

There were four gun emplacements left, but they all looked very similar.
Here are a few more photos of them:

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
