Default St John's the baptist chapel..Norfolk

I have visited this little chapel a few times in the past.Norfolk is littered with ruined churches but this has to be one of my favourites.with origins dating back to the 11th century the church and another one further up the road were abandoned in the 1880s in favour of a more central church.obviously with smaller congregations this would keep costs down.plus the other one was out on a limb so a central one would be more practical.you can visit all these grand places but there is something quite surreal and peaceful about these old ruins slowly being over come by nature.they are also one of the most difficult buildings to photograph

I like to go where others fear to tread.

Know this place well. Hence I know first hand how hard to take pictures of. But you really captured it there Mikey.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
