Well, since I had my friends down for the weekend it seemed justice that I took them to Cwm.

How much the place has changed since I was last there is terrible the whole place has basically been stripped smashed and torn apart,

There is even one of the twenty ton locos that has been tipped over somehow to get the valuable stuff from it.

We had a bit of fun when we were tehre we met a security guard that decided it was fun to take pot shots at us with a rifle.

There is not much left of the old site now and I think it will be gone soon.

Here are some of my photos, Im sure there will be more posted, Hope you enjoy them.

Tipped a shunter over to rob stuff from it, omg whatever next. Air rifle is a bit extreme, he could get jail for that!!!

great pics.if they had shot at me i would have been straight on the blower to the law

Stripped or not, the place still looks bloody amazing. The concrete tower and stores looks awesome.
Mental about the loco tho!!!

How the hell do you tip a 20 ton shunter over!
Too right about security, I'd have informed the fuzz. What a tw#t

What a blinking mess! That's a real shame when you consider how it used to look.
That guard can't have been doing his job very well to allow all that to have happened...a bit like shutting the stable door, methinks!

Good pics, Sheep. :)

Great photos :)

That shunter probably weighed 40 tons. Whoever moved it must have had some serious lifting gear.

I guess the rising value of metals makes places like this a target for dodgy scrap dealers.

Great pic's Sheep, theres something realy unnearving about that loco it a shame it didn't crush the arse holes who tiped it:mad:

More likely that CPL have sold the wheels and drive train to one of the other cokeworks as spares

The other loco on the battery had the gear-train taken out last year & some smoke capture hoods went to Monckton the other year. various specialized bits have also been salvaged from the vents on top of the battery.

CPL are actively selling bits off & removing valuable items from the site like the motors from the gas house.

Theres been a lot of cable stripping going on there recently but apart from that i think most of its official.

I cant see any signs of demolition in your pictures - have they actually knocked anything down?

Dave

Towards the front of the site, by the main road they have knocked on building down, and the security guy said that they are starting soon, but whether he is right or not who knows. The whole area is being redeveloped now for new houses so I cant see them building all nice new houses with Cwm just outside the window.

Dude really nice pics, it was a very good weekend, and yes a few days there would be good.
