Hi all, it's a pleasure to join these forums. In Caerphilly just off the Energlyn estate there are two derelict cottages that were built in the 1600s, long before any of the other surrounding houses. The elderly woman that lived on the left moved to a care home in 2012 and passed away the following year, and the elderly woman on the right lived there until she died in 2016, a few years after her husband passed away - both women were in their 90s.

The cottages are on the corner of a main road, and looking at them now (from the outside and inside) it's hard to believe that someone was living there until only six years ago. Young children have been in and out of there recently through the side entrance as the front is boarded up; it's weird how they've just been left derelict as they're not hidden away and are right opposite a terraced row of houses. Hope this will be of interest to members here 😊

It's unbelievable indeed how six years can do such damage. Cool pics!

And welcome to the forum, glad to have you here.

The length of the tendrils of the plants in the loo are probably down to the dampness there encouraging their growth. I have spiky brambles and smooth plants that seem to streak from the hedge across the surface of my lawn, with no additional watering from me.
