Haven't been urbexing in awhile so I thought I'd tick this place off my bucket list. I know it's probably been covered a lot over the years but I thought I'd show off what it's looking like these days!

Looks cool, quite local to me so I'll probably check it out some time. but be careful of the asbestos though
Most problems with asbestos are caused by long term fairly low level exposure. HOWEVER, it is often caused by a SINGLE exposure too.

The worst are the blue and brown versions [Crocidolite and Amosite] but the white version, [Chrysotile] that was thought to be fairly innocuous, is anything but.. You contract Mesothelioma, and you will be dead in 6 months..

The most dangerous forms of asbestos out there are;

1, AIB that is asbestos insulating board. [and this is everywhere, so no, do not kick holes in what you think is plasterboard or fibreboard]
2, Mill board. [as above]
3, Loose fill insulation.
4, Sprayed asbestos [that is the stuff that is sprayed onto steelwork like a layer of snow stuck on it]
5, Pipe lagging..

You see any of this, simply leave... Yes, apart from the loose fill it is ok if not disturbed, BUT, you do not know what the last idiot smashed to bits leaving the fibres everywhere. Also, fires in buildings release plumes of the stuff to float about happily..

I have a certificate in the identification of and the duty to manage asbestos, and it is truly terrible stuff. It is also contained in things you would never imagine, about 3000 building related products...

Please be careful..

john..
