Hadn't really thought about posting these pictures as I didn't think it came under the urbex remit but having seen Shatner's very informative post thought I'd put them up. I'm not going to do the history bit as I think people are familiar with Auschwitz.
What I will say is that the feeling from visiting this place will stay with me as long as I live. The place is incredibly unextraordinary in terms of the buildings and the physical space itself. It's more about the extraordinarily awful things that went on here. Although there are stark reminders of the suffering via the info boards and historic pictures, along with the rooms of glasses, suit-cases and human hair - nothing can really convey the terror and despair this place bore witness to.
In some ways it was a bit weird to visit in August - the sun was shining and it was a very hot day. Perhaps visiting in Winter when it's cold and snow is on the ground and the place is a lot more grimmer is more appropriate.
