We visited this place, twice, both times we got caught by security (the same guard) but he was nice to us and did not cause a fuss, he quizzed us about some damaged fences but we maintained that we did not know how they were done, and we had found a legitimate entry point that did not involve any vandalism at all - especially into the isolation ward which involved climbing a very tall and difficult fence!
This was acutally my "local" asylum, a friend of mine who is also on this forum's uncle was admitted here and i'm sure if I asked I could dig deeper into the history of this place.
Interestingly, an ex paitent still works here as a gardener, we tried speaking to him but he did not seem to understand us.
I took around 250 photos, and here are a selection:
Some artwork in the Isolation Ward, a place that seems to get left out of most reports on the place.
The art therapy room was very very damp, a thick damp atmosphere - it felt similar to one of those artificial jungles at some museums.
The contrast between the conditions here and the conditions in the Isolation Ward are very odd - perhaps its proportional to the amount of people who have entered after dereliction as the art therapy is much easier to get into.
I want one of these! Very cool plug socket, not quite sure what you'd plug into it though as there would be wires everywhere?
LiamWG (member on here) still maintains that this must have been his uncles toilet.
Another shot showing the state of the door, I love the textures in this building.
Again the Art Therapy - its ironic how the Art Therapy building contains the most textures and colour!
Inside the hospital nature is having its way too although other than this its pretty well preserved.
Interesting because of the date.
More artwork, this time an actual framed painting - makes me wonder if it was bought or done by a paitent, what else would they have to do?
And finally...
Is your name here? Mine is!
