1. The History
Bormenville is a hamlet in the village of Flostoy, which is part of the municipality of Havelange. Here you will find the ruins of a castle built at the end of the 18th century. Architect Jean-Gilles Jacob probably had the job finished circa 1780. It belonged to the Berlaymont family. When the last count died in 1935, it was abandoned and began to deteriorate. A process which accelerated with the loss of the roof in the late 70s. Attached to the ruins of the castle is the manor house which, unlike the castle, has been maintained and is still inhabited. The Saint-Laurent fountain, whose water would have miraculous properties, is located on the other side of the road. Very little else info-wise on this place but, ironically, loads of vintage pictures.
An old postcard circa early 1900s:

And three photos taken in 1944:

2. The Explore
Came across this place completely randomly. It was a SatNav failure – it tried to take us down a single track road (again!). Happy coincidence. This place was extremely picturesque. However the ruined bit was surrounded by a moat on three sides and on the fourth side was attached to the still-inhabited manor house. Hence just externals for this one. Only a short one but just about deserving a report of its own.
3. The Pictures
Down a long road…

..is a church lurking in the back-ground:
