Opened in 1959 and closed in 1991, the post is located at the end of a line of telegraph poles on the West side of Cold Overton Road. I wasn't planning to visit the post but drove past, noticed it and thought it would be rude not to pop in.
Glad I did. We all know there isn't anything as a "perfect" ROC post as they have been either obliterated, trashed, set on fire, flooded or they are sealed. This one was open to the elements and there was a bit of water at the bottom of the ladder and while there wasn't too much left inside, the post was pretty clean and had a enough to hold your attention.
Photographically, ROC posts are a bit limiting but I've tried to make to look as interesting as possible!
External features in reasonable nick:
Down the ladder we go:
Here's the pump:
The loo area is pretty clean:
Overview of the main room:
Wiring in tact:
Air filter pipe:
Desk, noticeboard and light:
That's all folks!
