Have found this site very useful for looking around the past.

Go to layers, tick 1947 arial photos, lots of different coloured dots appear on the map, click on the "link" (chain symbol) on the top bar, then move the cross and click it over a dot and an old photo of that area will appear.
Not all of the dots are active, but hopefully the one you want to look at are.

Have been trying to find a similar website for Wiltshire and Hampshire.

Thats cool, my house was there way back then as well, seems odd seeing all the open space around the area as well

The only other one I've found like this is the Norfolk one http://www.historic-maps.norfolk.gov.uk/Emap/EMapExplorer.asp?PID=0

It's pretty clunky compared to the Dorset one. Anybody else know of any?

Wow

What a fantastic web site, just been looking at the photo of Holton Heath RNCF and if you look
at the bottom right you can see a line of bomb craters.
