Fort Les Hommeaux Florains was completed in 1859. It took five years to build, due to its rather inaccessible location; a rocky outcrop just off of the coast. It housed 67 men and had five guns. It was abandoned after only 30 years, and was not utilised by the Germans.
Apparently, the reason why the fort is so ruined is because stones from the fort were taken to build houses after it was abandoned.
There are less photos on this report, due to the fact I didn't have much time to explore before the tide would cut me off.
