OK - time to take a bit of a break from HK and for a few reports from Taiwan. The first is a bit of a round-up of the pictures I took in the city-center of Kaohsiung - Taiwan's second city, after Taipei. A lot of buildings were built on the island formally know in Formosa, post-1949, when 2 million refugees, predominantly from the Nationalist government, military, and business community, fled to Taiwan from China under the leadership of Chiang Kai-shek. Hence Kaohsiung has a large number of buildings constructed in the 1950s and 1960s.
Most buildings that are derelict are locked-up and often have still-functioning shops downstairs. Hence given this and their location in the center of the city, there is little-if-any chance of internal exploration. Apologies then that these are all external shots.
