I haven't been here for a while so I thought I'd see what was going on. The main kitchen and boiler house to the rear of the building have been demolished and there's signs of stripping going on in the main building.
I first visited in 2005 and it was relatively untouched then
Main entrance
Contents of the once-intact library strewn all over the kitchen. It's been stripped out ready for demolition
There isn't much left in Glen O' Dee, these transparent medical diagrams survived in a cupboard though
One of the appealing things about Glen O' Dee is the hand-drawn signs and general retrograde feel of the place. Apart from the obvious fire alarms, and a small area re-glazed with UPVC windows. it doesn't seem very modernised even though it only closed in the late '90s
The 'Private Staircase' is suffering quite a bit due to the leaky roof
Plural failure
The fabric of the old hospital is tearing away, I wonder how difficult it'll be to restore compared with the usual stone buildings which you can just tear the insides out of and basically erect a new building inside.
The corridors are narrow, long and in this case, uninviting
In one of the small wards, signs of the pipes being stripped
The 1970s called, they want their curtains back
