The hospital and and manor house were built it 1936 to house 1200 mentally ill patients. The manor was used as an administration building and the clock tower was used for maintenance. Leybourne Grange closed down in 1996 and lay dormant until developers bought it and it is now home to Leybourne Chase housing development.
All that remains is the admin building and the clock tower, although the admin builidng will soon be turned into flats. (info from thelarkfieldsociety.co.uk)
