ve been doing some work on the M.V. Hambledon that's berthed at Grimsby Royal/Alexandra Dock and was allowed to take some photos. It weighs 112 tons, is 22m long and is powered by a 4 cylinder Lister Blackstone marine turbo diesel engine that puts out 330bhp @ 750rpm.

Engine room telegraph.

I'll have some more photos of the engine room soon, a lot of the ones I took in the engine room were blurry from the vibration from the auxiliary engine running.

Very interesting. :) I worked for a while as a deckhand on a fishing trawler out of the Port of Blyth in Northumberland. Although the trawler I worked on was smaller at 37ft long and 36 tons it had many similarities to this one.
There's nothing better than being in an engine room with an engine working. :)

She looks like one of the old ex-Admiralty fleet tenders?, Did a job on a 70' tug last year with a massive turbocharged air-start Ruston & Hornsby main engine - cant beat proper british engines! :)

Well spotted, She's a ex R.N. tender (Clovelly Class)
A tug like this one?

Wow...

So tiny...

Mind you the last engine room I was in was a 315000GRT VLCC. Nice to see what lies at the other end of the scale though, good report :)

One surprising thing about this boat I've found out is that when the engine is running at tick over it uses two litres of diesel a minute
