I visited here with a friend thats just starting out in the whole urbex scene and i'm trying to coax him into joining the forum.
The box hasn't been covered in graffiti but the top corner of one side is missing. The firing shelfs are still in place which is nice to see. included in the pics are the views our brave soldiers would have had in the firing arc if the poop had hit the fan and we had been invaded.

Hey FezzyBen that looks like a Type 22. Love that first pic of the brickwork.

Ouch. Someone has taken a bit of a chunk out of that pillbox, I wonder if it was the farmer trying to destroy it or an accident with a wayward tractor? Actually you'd probably need something a bit more substantial than a tractor to mess up a pillbox like that.

Another thought regarding the damage. I have read about Home Guard and regular army units testing weapons against redundant pillboxes (after the threat of invasion had gone), it could have been hit by a 3.5in Bazooka, PIAT or anti tank gun or suchlike?

Poor pillbox, Looks like it held out well though, if thats what happened:)

Not really... anyone inside would have had concussion if not be dead after that.

Pillboxes would only ever have been a minor annoyance to an invading force, they were designed to hinder and slow down rather than defeat.

I certainly wouldn't have wanted to be in one as a member of home defence forces!
