Hi All!

Took the advantage of the Easter break to grab Urb & Ex and go of exploring. As always with my explores I stumble on something far greater than what I set out to enjoy...In this case a walk along the S&D line brought me to this site. Once I see disused train lines I just have to follow!

I haven't been able to find to much information about this collection of scrap and tram stock at this location. The quarry itself is one of a dozen littering the Mendip hills, mostly for the limestone, but in this case for it's iron deposits. It is disused and now a parking lot for the machinery that once worked it's treasures. The whole site was criss crossed with narrow gauge tramway's, with just a small piece of isolated standard gauge where the rather sorry diesel shunter now rests.
There is working quarries close by so I'm not sure if we were meant to be walking around...and access did involve some climbing

As always, I work in black and white, unfortunately sunny days don't lend themselves well to this style so sorry if some are over/under exposed. I'm not a big fan of post editing. Hope you enjoy.....

Lovin that, very nice use of B&W and that giant bucket shot is a winner!!!

The black and white shots are fantasic, the pic of the part dismantled backhoe / digger is a winner in my books!

Thanks for all the kind comments, really enjoyed this place and will go back without Urb & Ex, the children have yet to understand Daddies crazy hobby!!
It amazes me that all this is left just lying around, rotting away. The place was alive with wildlife too but since I had my short lense on by the time i'd swapped to telephoto I had just managed to snap a few foxes tails!

Great pics mate, I like B & W too. I used to mess with B & W film before all this digital malarky, I know what you mean about ambient light and bright sunshine, but your pics are fine. As you said it's unbelievable what they leave behind in some of these places. I loved the shot of the Atkinson. Dieselpunk! :D

Good stuff :) - We went here last weekend. Awesome place really if you are into the rust/industrial/machinery side of things with what is left lying around :)
