After a failed attempt earlier in the month, we headed back to Denbigh to try and get this one sorted. Without a doubt, this is one of the most striking buildings I've ever seen and we sat for some time after the explore just looking at the architecture. It's incredibly imposing and, while it may be a cliche to say, it genuinely would be a crime to see anything happen to it.
History on the building can easily be found so I won't go into too much detail. Built in the 1840s, the North Wales Hospital was actually the location for the BBC's most haunted show a few years back.
Visited with Flame and an awful lot of yawning. Fantastic day out!
A mixture of HDR and normal shots here.
We found patient records inside (details Photoshopped out):
Into one of the rooms. The floors were really dodgy in places so we didn't always venture as far in as we'd have liked:
Corridor:
We found our way into the boiler house/generator area:
Looking into another ward:
The decay is apparent everywhere you look. Here, there was a bizarre selection of objects, all stacked together:
This was AWFUL. Turning a corner, we saw this (turns out it was a blanket):
Inside the chapel. The building was in relatively good condition:
Evidence of what some of the floors are like:
It would have been criminal to leave without externals:
A chair we found in the grounds:
The hospital is surrounded by some beautiful countryside, which we paused to enjoy:
Many thanks as always for your interest!
