strangest find was in the hallway of a farmhouse...a bloody big gravestone dating from 1895.....
A nice selection here.
The teenage girl's gravestone is somewhat strange - normally you find much older ones incorporated in old buildings. Very old burial sites being reclaimed and where the graves have no living relatives left, the stonework re-used in buildings. In this case the internment date seems a bit late for this to have happened - although it is just possible that the stone was returned to a distant living relative, if the original burial site had been altered. The wording on the stone seems to indicate that the young lady's immediate family had all preceded her. Perhaps a little research in the local records will reveal if the residence was originally owned/built by the Bernichan family?
