After seeing some pics from here over on FB I thought it might be worth a mooch round and it turned out it was.Theres a lot of stuff still there and my timing turned out right as I got to talk to an old guy who has a unit there and remembers quite a lot about the place.Seems it was requisitioned during both world wars for munitions work.20lb bombs during WW1 which seem to have been our main payload for aerial bombing back then and 25lb shells during WW2 wether they were 3.7 AA or the famed 25pdr field gun I dont know.He said there were at least 2 pillboxes left but I found 4 in the end by following the remains of the perimeter fence. It had a small garrison of troops at some point and the remains of their hut bases are still.Didnt have time to get all the buildings unfortunately as it got too dark but managed most.
