Sarre SE Army under ground HQ Kent Sep 09
Hi All
Well onwards and upwards (ops that should be Downwards)
The under ground site at Sarre was the command center for the south east army brigade, built deep under ground to protect the HQ from the constant bombing during WW2.
There is a lot of info on this site over at the subbrit site http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/sites/s/sarre_brigade_headquarters/index.shtml
One word of warning about this site, the roof has collapsed in places and it is not very stable at all.
BE CAREFUL IF YOU ENTER THIS SITE.
The shot on the left is looking down 1 of the entrance shafts, the picture on the right is the main entrance passage.
The shot on the left is looking towards the exit steps and then the shot on the right show what
awaits you when you get back up.
Two of the room in the main bunker, the steel pipe in the roof was a cable run that lead back up to the surface. As you can see the roof in many places is in very poor condition.
Parts of the bunker are unlined, and this is where the roof has come down.
Well thats about it for my pictures, Fluffy did get some more of the inside which I hope he posts.
There are a few more pictures on my FlickR site at http://www.flickr.com/photos/newage2/sets/72157622402882070/
Thanks for looking, any comments are most welcome.
Cheers Newage
