Had a look in here with my lad & kind permission from the guy who is keeping an eye on this post while the landowner is away, & what a lovely one it is to.
Hes unsure what the owners intent is with the post, but its just about the best "un-restored" post Iv seen.
There is a small building next to it, but not sure what its purpose was & a lovely little cottage just next to it but that was not the sort of place I was willing to hang about in in these winds!

I remember when the Ponteland ROC post was a minter but then a certain person from Hartlepool (they know who they are) visited and took the almost new bunk beds and sealed bedding. They even took clothing that had been left behind. Soon after that the post was incinerated..

Always good to see the tiles on walls. Must have been crazy cold in those things. I'm surprised there are no aeroplane id charts on walls? Was the toilet still in place? Lastly, and my favourite - was the dustpan and brush there? The styling of the dustpan and brush is awesome and the paint colour quite special.
I can almost smell what an ROC post is like!

How remote is this post? I'm wondering if the nearby building was for accommodation in bad weather to allow permanent staff availability.
I find it staggering that people did almost nothing else in their service careers except work in an ROC post..

The toilet was strangely in the nerby square building & I didnt see the dustpan (think Huntingdon still has dustpan) Its only half a mile from the village, I get the impression the cottage was a farm house of sorts, its is pretty exposed though was bloody freezing in the wind!
