While driving back home from another location with Martino ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/martino_) we passed the Garzweiler quarry.
Its a really big quarry and the machines are HUGE!!!

Talking about it we decided to take a closer look. Yes, lets infiltrate that place!
Finding the main entrance took some time, because its really big, and it will cost you almost 1 hour to just drive around it.

Once inside we really could see how big it was! 48 km2! WOW!
And those machines! Incredible!
Kindly waving to every worker we approched like we worked for years with them we could make it very far into the mine.
We drove until the road was really getting muddy and it was not possible to go any further anymore.
At the way back we decided to get a side-road and check out on of the machines.
Only the steel weels are 3 meters high, and this wasn't even the biggest one!

Those pics really puts one's size into perspective  there are a few sites like this throughout Germany, correct  I remember driving past one somewhere near Gorlitz, we were a few miles away but you could see the machinery quite clearly, it was so large  thanks for the pics :)

There's only one thing I can say about this...WOWWWWWWWW!!!
Actually, I'll say something else...Lol...those conveyors are just totally amazing! They're like roads!
The size of the site, too!!!
Fantastic work, bartje. :)
