First the one to the North of the airfield EDOBID: 11753 I think this should marked up as EDOBID: 2025 PILLBOX: S0007977
which is on the overlay in woods to the NW but described "Pillbox, no specification. 01/04/1998 Brick-shuttered pillbox [recorders could only view from a distance across the runway and two fields]." which accurately describes this particular one.One for the CPT :) The actual doorway is bricked up but theres a hole in the side

The other is SW of the airfield and pretty much the same right down to the arched brick lintel over the door but a bit more overgrown PILLBOX (TYPE FW3/22): S0007975

Thanks for looking :)

Oh happy Sunday:)..Nice one Rich,I wonder who threw that large lump of rock at the first box?Love the arched doors obviously a box builder who took pride in his work

yea I kinda liked the arches :) never saw any like that before.Looks like the farmer uses that one to chuck stones in

Some tidy brickwork there. Certainly pride and flair used to provide character to the PB. Thanks for this.

I agree with you Rich DoB 7977 does seem to match the description for EDOBID 11753. I'll move it accordingly.

The brickwork is fantastic on these boxes. You definitely get a sense that those builders that took pride in their work new damn well that these structures would be standing long after they were gone.
