Hi all, I’m a 20 year old who had gathered an interest into urbex within the last 2 years or so- but have been met by only failed attempts. I’m situated in Hampshire and would love to either join some others’ expedition with a friend of mine or just talk. I have had one successful expedition to an old vineyard.

Hi Kavester, I'm in Hampshire, I'be an amateur explorer for a few years now, not hard core like most people on here. I've done some interests explores and always have a little library of places I want to visit. That vineyard I've seen before, I heard there were a few travellers nearby so always steered cleared of that. I've generally always gone solo, though my daughter has done some with me. I've attached some piccies, I recently learned of a farm and bungalow in the Forest that might be worth a trip, I could give you a shout when I'm planning on going!

Thanks I appreciate it. TBH most of the places I explore I have found on here so its a bit like sharing stuff everyone has already seen, but yeah Okay I will do, photos from my perspective so maybe a little different, thanks again!

Your pics are great!
Everyone sees beauty in different things, and show that in their pics

Hi Glynn! Failed in terms of anywhere I have attempted has been demolished or we couldn’t find. The second main issue is actually locating anything in the first place, I just can’t manage to find anything.

Hello Dr Crooks, amazing pictures there- you should definitely write up some reports. As for the vineyard, we had spent a few hours looking for it during a summers day last year and just as we were giving up- I saw something on Google Earth peeking through the trees, had an inkling to check it out.

I would be 100% up to join you, as I am sure my friend would be too, as we always mention wanting to get back into urban exploration and hitting our so-called jackpot.

Try Geograph
Go to search, type where it says anything- derelict or abandoned and in the where/location- Hampshire or to make it more specific to your local area put somewhere closer to home and - search

The first photo - of the four-wheeled monster - intrigues me. It looks as if it could be a a four-wheeled version of the DUKW. What is/was it?

perseverance. Obviously first thing to do is search this & other forums using area names eg county or town, Geograph is a usefull site u can search "abandones" then a area. but tbh I find a lot of stuff just scouring google maps

Hi Hayman, It is a WW11 US Army Larc LX16 amphibious transporter, really nice close up, and the Graff really added to the photo I think, it was left abandoned near the Portsmouth Naval Base, sadly its long since gone. I managed to get there in 2015

Where abouts in Hants are you? I have two places on my radar, both in the forest,I have no idea what access is like so could end up being time wasted but I do fancy a visit, I'm thinking early May, let me know.

Me, I’m in Southampton- I’ve heard of a few places in New Forest but never tried to find them, feel too much like a needle in a haystack. Early May sounds good to me!
