After reading an article in the local newspaper about this place and its history i decided to get my cam and take a look myselve.
This is the story behind it
The metal hospital 'De Grote beek' has its own cemetery. The cemetery was in use until 1988, but lies now abandonded and neglected between the trees in a silent corner of the institute. Here lies the patients of bygone days , catholics with the catholics, protestants with the protestants and a small place for the Jews people. But also staff was buried here. The oldest grave belongs to Joseph Alexis K., he died in 1918.
The most graves are provide with a small concrete stone. among which the deads were then buried, mostly with 5 above each other. Lunatics, and useless people are burried here. Forgotten, mostly allready within their lives.
Also ' The Beast' was buried here. IJje Wijlstra assassinated in 1929 4 field guards when they tried to get a married woman who lived with him.
Pieter Verhoeff filmed this story in ' The sign of beast' from 1980.
