whilst in the area me and kevsy21 decided to check a few water based moochies out this one being the first.

its the outfall for the water treatment works on warrington road and has quite a fierce flow coming out of it making it almost difficult to take pictures with a tripod......ill add a little video at the end of this report at a later date, just to show the flow.

once past the flow and down the long chamber we was met by a T junction, with one side flowing really fast and the other hardly flowing at all.

heres a little about the plant.....(i think i have the right place)

"runcorn sewage treatment works serves the runcorn area and treats a mixture of domestic and trade effluent from the surrounding areas.
the industry from around the area ranges from chemical to food flavouring processors, so the incoming effluent can vary."

had a nice sweet smell to it almost like double trouble just down the road.

explored with kevsy21

the slow flow...this took you round to a huge water pit at the side of the works via an open chamber, we decided just to stick exploring in here and not the live water works above us.

Yes! Love this! Looks awesome down there. I've put a hold on getting wet until at least spring, I'm definitely a southern softie!
Excellent photos and write up!

Loving that outfall. If I remember correctly it would have be designed to oxygenate the water before it goes into the natural watercourse because the sewage treatment process produces very low oxygen water. If this were allowed into the natural water courses it would kill of the wildlife in it because of the low oxygen content.
