OK... here's my penultimate Oman report. This time it's a series of crumbling buildings around the Rustaq and Nakhal area. It's on a 200km loop North-West of the capital Muscat. Common theme is that the buildings are made out of mud and once abandoned they crumble away. Although it does take time as it is very very dry in Oman. OK on with the pictures:

Crumbling house in Nakhal:

Locked up secure:

but here's a crafty peak through the window:

Round the corner this place isn't faring so well:

Nor this place across the road:

This watch-tower is standing up to the test of time a bit better as it is partially made from stone:

This fort at Al Hoqain unlike its counterparts at Al Hazm, Rustaq and Nahkal is being left to disintegrate:

Another stone watch-tower between Al Hazm and Rustaq:

A new mosque nestles between crumbling old houses in Rustaq:

Crumbling away along with this circular tower shaped house:

Finally a ruined structure near Murrah:

...and a long one-storey stone building:

Thanks for looking!

Stunning stuff! Amazing to see something so different. Great photos too. :)

What's the punishment for trespass in Oman then? :p
