Default Tropika Ballroom - USA - April 2017

Welcome to one of the most ridiculously falling apart buildings I have ever explored.

From the outside the building is very unassuming and apart from the stonework around the outside of the windows on the upper floor you'd never know this was in here. Beforehand none of us knew this old ballroom was actually on the upper level of the building, so we entered the building we knew it was in to be confronted on the ground floor by an absolute shit pit of all kinds of old units that had occupied the ground floor. All the walls had practically fallen down due to water damage, the floors were collapsing, and only after a while did we spot the stupidly dodgy way to the first floor.

Naturally we found the really easy way out, a nice solid staircase sealed off from the cesspit of the lower level leading to an unlocked front door...really you couldn't make it up!

Anyway the floors in here on the main ballroom floor are, how shall I put this, 'crispy'. Some of the worst I've ever personally seen, you had to be very careful picking your way across the floor to avoid something bad happening.

    Thanks for looking :)

That place is full of art-deco. Must have been grand at one time.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
