Pill Box 1/2 Dawlish Warren, Devon 2012

Hi all, i went on a weeks holiday to Dawlish Warren, Devon and i saw a Pill box just on the edge of the Warren golf club. After taking a few shots of it, i decided to do a little search on Google, and i found this forum and a user by the name of ' cptpies ' ( Thread found here )

Here are a few shots that i managed to get:

Now after taking these few pictures, a worker that worked at the club started walking over to see what me and my brother was up to. We just said we was just checking the box out, he was fine about it, very polite and was simply checking us out as some of the club members was getting worried about their cars, who could blame them.

So we left the site and checked out the above forum thread on here and we noticed that there was another pill box near by, so that night we started checking out GE/GM for any sign of it as we found the picture that was posted up by cptpies hard to pin point just where it was.

Any ways, to cut a long story short (so i dont bore any of you, i will share if you want) we found the location, we stood on a little mud slope near the 1st pill box with some binoculars, we found the 2nd one, but only just about. The good news is we actually got to the 2nd pill box with out any problems what so ever, and took pictures inside and out side. I will post them in the next post.....

Hope you guys enjoy them, and just so you know this was our 1st time ever in a pill box, and taken pictures at all lol.

I do have a few more outer shots to put up, so i will add them later tonight. I just didnt have enough light source to take good shots inside. But what i will say is it is in VERY good condition. Soo clean, just a little bit of rubbish and muck inside. All looks solid from the inside.

I will also add to the fact i am very scared of spiders so i am very pleased i actually did get in there.

I will update later.
If you want to see them all feel free to check my flickr account out.

Thanks all any feed back welcomed etc... :D

Enjoy.

Jme.

Welcome to the world of PB porn, google earth, maps, GPS and cameras. Have fun out there and welcome to the site. Nice to get straight in there with photos and posting.

JME - under severe light conditions put the camera onto a timer and if sufficient light - no flash. Prop the camera onto something stable. It can be hit and miss but in this age of digital cameras try and try again. I sometimes use a torch (pref halogen) to infill areas of interest. It all helps and watch out for the spiders.

Welcome along and thanks for posting these.

As you've mentioned cpt pies, I assume you have his overlay and are starting to realise just how much WW2 stuff is still out there to be seen. All updates on condition etc are also appreciated on here. :)

PS: Useful info etc here http://www.derelictplaces.co.uk/main/search.php?searchid=2365888

No problem mate, it was because of this forum i decided to take them and post them up on here like.

As for the overlay thing, yea it was from him. I knew i got it from here but i never knew it was him like so thank you and thank you CPT mate :D and yes i agree there are LOTS to be seen, i was shocked.

As to the link you shared, it comes up with the following : Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

Im no whizz kid with the camera, but im pleased with them as this was my 1st ever explore. I may even invest on a new camera soon :D

Cheers mate. Glad you liked the pics.

welcome along nice first post, if people can put up with my concrete addiction and crappy photos am sure your photos will be fine matey, as for cameras well I used my iPhone for a while when my camera buggered up so I wouldn't worry too much about it

Yeah not sure why that didn't work. It was a search on the 'Reference material' section of the site which will give you all manner of info including old maps etc. It can be found under the 'Forums' tab if you haven't already spotted it. Happy hunting. :)

Oh and I agree with jon, if we can see what's in the pics and they don't make your eyes bleed then they're fine. You don't need to be David Bailey.

My mission to populate the earth with a race of WWII concrete lovers appears to be one step closer to completion :) it might take a while longer yet though. Welcome to the fold Jme.

Some excellent pillboxes there, the first one has qutie a thick roof. Possibly something else was on the top.
